Ok, so I'm writing an essay for my english class...trying to convince that celebrities deserve their privacy too. How does this sound so far?
Good Morning fellow students. Take a step back, would you enjoy being at the top of the reef? Top celebrity of the country, or possibly world?! Now, close your eyes and imagine what this life would be like. Understand, what you had before, is completely gone. You cannot move at LEAST two blocks without the news reporters up your back. Oh sure, you got your talent and self known to everyone, but you have barely two inches of privacy. Sound intriguing? If that’s not enough for you, imagine yourself in your home, sitting watching television, and out of nowhere, you see flashing lights of cameras going off outside your window, and people sneaking through your door to come either get your autograph, or invade your bubble space up in your face with questions, video cameras and insults. Not a very pleasant life, is it?
As all of us do, we essentially worship the ground celebrities walk on. The amazing talent they share with us is of course worth all the attention, but who would want someone to invade their privacy? A Man named Michael Russell shared a story of a reporter being shot by a celebrity. He explained, “On a recent episode of Boston Legal we saw a celebrity shoot a reporter who was about to take a photo of her because he jumped out from behind a garbage can and she was startled and thought he had a gun. She claims she shot in self defense. The question was, would the jury buy it? The prosecutor's case was that it's okay for the celebrity to get all the perks of being able to go into a fancy restaurant and be seated even without a reservation, among other things, but then they want to be a big star and have their privacy too. The defense made the case of other celebrities being assaulted, some killed even. He brought up John Lennon's murder as an example. His argument was that even celebrities have a right to some privacy.” Who in their right mind, would want either a life with people in their face, or being that person who is up in everyone’s face? Not a very pleasant life, is it?
Celebrities are like your favorite television show coming on. You hear it’s coming on, and you’ll do anything to go watch it; or, you’ll make sure it’s recorded so you don’t miss it. When celebrities come to town, everyone swarms in hoping to at least see their favorite celebrity. Say your show got canceled, how would you feel? Devastation? Anger? Some celebrities have retired thanks to the pain of no privacy; meaning, the public becomes angry, hurt, heartbroken and even let down.
